Madrigalists Choir of Fine Arts
Founded in 1938 by Luis Sandi, the Bellas Artes Madrigalists Choir has been directed by Jesús Macías, Jesús Carreño, Jorge Córdoba, Rufino Montero, Samuel Pascoe, James Demster, Horacio Franco, Digna Guerra, Jorge Medina, Michael Form, Xavier Ribes, Rodrigo Cadet and Carlos Aransay. The choir has an extensive repertoire that ranges from the first musical manifestations in the West to contemporary choral works. It has participated in the International Cervantino Festival, the Manuel Enríquez International Forum of New Music, the 20th Century Musical Retrospective and the Alicia Urreta, among other events. It has performed throughout much of the country and in cities in the United States. In 2013, the choir toured Spain, with performances in Córdoba, Seville, Granada and Madrid. In 2018, the celebrations for its 80th anniversary culminated with a concert at the National Theater of Lima in Peru.

Carlos Aransay
Director
Carlos Aransay studied composition, theory and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, as well as singing at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid. He completed master’s studies in composition, piano and conducting at the Royal College of Music in London, as well as a postgraduate degree in music psychology at the University of Sheffield. He studied conducting in the Czech Republic and Vienna with Jacques Delacôte, whom he assisted in the production of Carmen He has conducted the Chorus of the National Choir of Spain, the Chorus of the RTVE in Spain, and the Chorus of the Opera of Bellas Artes, as well as collaborating with orchestras in Europe and Latin America. In Mexico, he has worked with the Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes and Antiqva Metrópoli, and has been the chorus master in various productions. Since 2018, he has been the artistic director of the Chorus of Madrigalists of Bellas Artes and a professor at the Academy of Baroque Music of Périgord Noir in France.

Antiqva Metropoli
Founded in 2008, Antiqva Metropoli is made up of performers specializing in baroque music with studies in Mexico and abroad. Its mission is to spread the European baroque repertoire and the music of the Mexican viceroyalty with historical instruments and styles typical of the period. It has participated in the International Cervantino Festival, the Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, the Guelaguetza, the Baroque Festival of Guadalupe and has performed at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Teatro Macedonio Alcalá, the Teatro del Bicentenario, the Teopanzolco Cultural Center, the Ángela Peralta Theater, the Gothic Chapel of the Helénico Cultural Center, the Silvestre Revueltas Hall of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center and others. It has toured in Italy and France. Its members have attended early music courses at the Bruno Maderna Conservatory in Cesena. In 2017, the group invited Luca Giardini with whom a regular collaboration was established as soloist and director. On her tenth anniversary, she toured with mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux and maestro Giardini. During the pandemic, she participated remotely in the Festival del Centro Histórico in Mexico City, the 13th Misiones de Chiquitos International Festival of American Renaissance and Baroque Music in Bolivia, and the 18th International Festival of Early Music in Peru.
