Rosatom launches first international award for women-led environmental projects in BRICS countries

Rosatom, in cooperation with the Eurasian Women’s Forum Council, announced the launch of the first international award for women-led environmental projects in the BRICS countries.

The Green Future Award aims to honor and support outstanding environmental projects led by women, enhance cooperation among BRICS countries, and support the development of green initiatives in Russia.

The competition highlights the important role women play in promoting sustainable development and green technology. With women at the forefront of environmental initiatives, the award aims to raise awareness of their projects and provide opportunities for exchange between BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, etc.).

Prominent figures such as Galina Karelova, Chairwoman of the Eurasian Women’s Forum Council, and Tatyana Terentyeva, Deputy Director General for Human Resources at Rosatom, emphasized the importance of this competition in supporting women’s leadership in green economies.

The award is in line with the priorities of the BRICS countries, which focus on building sustainable economies and increasing women’s participation in the energy sectors.

The application period extends from September 18 to November 20, 2024 via the award’s dedicated website.

The shortlist will be announced on 16 December 2024, and the awards ceremony will take place before the end of 2024.

The winners will receive mentorship from international experts, an opportunity to showcase their projects globally, and support to expand their projects within BRICS countries.
