A horror case involving revenge pornography and serial rape of a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Rethymno, Crete in 2022 is being revived at the Joint Jury Court in Chania.
as he is allegedly involved in the rape case of the 14-year-old girl from Mylopotamos that shocked public opinion last February.
Specifically, according to information from zarpanews.gr, the 22-year-old is facing serious crimes, namely:
- Repeated rape of a minor
- Persistent neglect of a minor
- Revenge porn
- Enticing a minor via the Internet
The timeline of the case
The case came to light in February 2022, when the 13-year-old student stopped succumbing to the months-long blackmail of the 20-year-old, who forced her into sexual acts despite her age and against her will, threatening her that he would traffic pornographic material, i.e. photos of the student, which she had sent him after his own pressure and manipulation through social networks.
After the girl’s refusal to continue contact with him, the 20-year-old put his threat into practice, circulating the material through social networks and with the help of the school psychologist, the girl found the courage to start the legal process of reporting him. After his confession, the 20-year-old was temporarily detained but as the trial did not start, as required by law, he was released.
The case of Mylopotamos
However, shortly after his release, the now 22-year-old man was also involved in a new case of raping a minor. This is the much-lauded case of the rape of the 14-year-old girl in Mylopotamos that was revealed last February and for which 12 men are accused.
After his arrest, the 22-year-old was taken to the Tripoli prison where he is being held.
They demand justice
However, the non-start of the trial on Monday following a request from the defense caused great dissatisfaction in the family of the victim who has been waiting for justice for 2.5 years. Therefore, the Court chose to adjourn for October 1st instead of a new postponement, in order for the process to proceed at a fast pace, while it also proceeded to draw the four citizen-jurors who will participate in the composition of the Mixed Jury together with the three regulars judges.
