From Friday to Sunday, the Saldaña Escena Abierta performing arts festival is being held
The Saldaña Escena Abierta theatre and performing arts festival is back for another year, celebrating its eighth edition in 2024, to bring to the town of Saldaña a variety of stage proposals for all audiences.
It will start on Friday, September 27 with the performance of the play ‘Bikes are for summer’written by Fernando Fernán Gómez in 1977, by the Rabí Don Sem Tob Theatre Company, from Carrión de los Condes, directed by Miguel Mota. The performance will take place at 9:00 p.m. at the Casa de Cultura, with admission costing two euros and tickets on sale from one hour before the start of the play.

On Saturday at noon, the little ones will enjoy the storytelling and soap bubble show by Hadalana Burbujas. The show will include a giant bubble workshop for children. It will start at 2:00 p.m. in the Plaza Vieja.
In the afternoon, the successful Mario Ezno (more than two million subscribers on YouTube and a phenomenon that is sweeping the social networks), accompanied by his puppet Manolo Bolaño, will bring the magic of puppet theatre and improvisation to the Plaza Vieja. His performance, open to all ages, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Saturday evening will close with live music from Rock ‘n’ roll Cirkus, with versions of some of the best and most recognisable songs in the history of Rock ‘n’ roll. From the Rolling Stones to Metallica, from Dire Straits to Iron Maiden, including Queen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. The concert will start at 9:00 pm in the Plaza Vieja.
The day of Sunday, September 29th will begin with the show, for all audiences, ‘Ñapas, S.A.’by La Imperfekta Teatro and Clau_topia, the story of two construction workers who have difficulty working alone… and working together. The performance will take place in Plaza Vieja at 1:00 p.m.
Also on the morning of Sunday 29th the company Las Sargantanas will bring its colorful show ‘Cadabra Goat’a travelling performance of stilt walkers and magic that will move through the squares and streets of Saldaña, with a route that will start in the Plaza del Lino and pass through the Plaza de España, the Plaza Vieja and will end in the Plaza del Marqués de la Valdavia. It will start at 2:00 p.m.
And as a closing of this VIII Saldaña Escena Abierta, the local theatre company La Bicicleta, will once again take to the stage of the Casa de Cultura to represent its successful performance of ‘Peach in syrup’a comedy of intrigue written by playwright Miguel Mihura under the direction of Miguel Mota.
