Dozens of foreign nationals (WNA) from Rohingya, Myanmar, were found occupying two houses in the Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, precisely in the Nuansa Indah Baru Housing Complex.

“We received information from the public who suspected that there were dozens of foreigners occupying two houses in the Nuansa Indah Baru Housing Complex. After we conducted an inspection at the location, they were Rohingya,” said Head of Government Administration for the Cisolok Village Government (Pemdes) Irvan Ruslandi in Sukabumi, Sunday (22/9).

He said the refugees lived in the house by renting it for several months. With the report and findings, the Village Government immediately coordinated with officers from the Cisolok Police to handle illegal immigrants as well as security in anticipation of those who run away.

Because, when his party was conducting an inspection of the house they occupied, there were five Rohingya people who fled. Of the five people who fled, three of them have been found.

“There are two people still being searched for,” he said.

Irvan admitted that he did not know for sure how many Rohingya refugees were living in the two rented houses. However, from the refugees’ confessions, they numbered 24 people, including women and children.

“Currently, the illegal immigrants are being registered by officers from the Cisolok Police, but it is certain that they do not have any documents.
immigration,” he added.

Irvan said it is not yet known who the person who escorted and provided them with accommodation facilities is. In addition, the destination of the Rohingya Tribe is not yet clear or their possible destination is Christmas Island, Australia, because the southern sea waters of Sukabumi Regency are often used as a crossing point for illegal immigrants to Christmas Island even though they are always thwarted by security officers.
