Zero Hunger: Zero Caries program provides care to more than 1,000 schoolchildren in Alto Paraná

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The dental service of the Itakyry Health Centre led the launch of the Zero Caries programme, in cooperation with seven local educational institutions, benefiting a total of 1,180 schoolchildren. In addition, oral hygiene kits were delivered, provided by the Oral Health Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health.

The kits were distributed at Elementary School No. 3914 Santa Librada, Elementary School No. 1119 San Lorenzo, Elementary School No. 3176 Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Elementary School No. 84 Cerro Corá, Elementary School No. 3912 Padre Johanes Franciscus Page, Elementary School No. 5520 Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús and Elementary School No. 6283 San José.

The Ministry of Health supports the Zero Hunger programme, which aims to guarantee adequate nutrition for students, through an action plan focused on the well-being of children, ensuring their comprehensive development.

The Zero Caries component also focuses on promoting oral health by providing essential dental education and care to children.

During the activities, educational talks were held on the importance of proper brushing and the prevention of cavities, with the aim of instilling oral hygiene habits from an early age. In this way, the aim is to ensure that children grow up with healthy smiles.

The delivery of the hygiene kits was attended by the mayor of Itakyry, Miguel Angel Soria; the directors of the Tenth Health Region, Alto Paraná, Noelia Torres and the Health Center of Itakyry, Emiliano Dorelle. As well as the dentist of the Health Center of Itakyry, Liliana Mariel Duarte; the head of the Oral Health Service of the Tenth Health Region, Alto Paraná, Luis Carlos Avila, and the dentists of extramural care.
