JAKARTA – Assa Abloy, a Swedish intelligence and security company, has partnered with robot developer Boston Dynamics. The two companies will develop a digital door access for robots.
The deal was only announced on Monday, September 23. According to TechCrunch, Assa Abloy said that the door access system will be added to the SPT robot. Later, Boston Dynamics’ robot will be able to open automatically.
According to Assa Abloy, the location does not yet have an autonomous system capable of supporting its patrol activities. Therefore, “The word ‘automatic’ does not apply to the point’s ability to open doors that are still easily controlled by their access.”
So far, the spot has no problem through the smart door. The robot uses an integrated digital access resource using Bluetooth. The system can communicate a HID Signo brand reader from Assa Abloy.
Although its capabilities are quite good, especially the robot does not need to tap on the plan, Boston dynamics wants to improve its digital door access system. The idea was accepted by Assa Abloy and the company will manufacture the latest system.
By establishing a long-term cooperation with Assa Abloy, Boston dynamics can develop more intelligent emergency guard robots. Installing an automatic door access system also improves the robot’s performance to patrol faster.
It is not yet known when the new digital door access system will be added to the SPT. However, both companies are trying to make the SPT a security dog that can patrol inside and outside the building without constraints.
