The Municipal Administration of Sonsón deeply regrets the violent death of Miguel Otálvaro Jiménez, a young man of only 16 years old and a student in the last year at the Normal Superior Educational Institution.
This new act of violence has deeply moved us and has shocked all the inhabitants of the municipality. As mayor of Sonsón, I have asked the Police Commander and the Army to carry out an exhaustive investigation, to reach the final consequences and to identify and capture those responsible for this atrocious crime.
Additionally, the governor’s office will offer a reward of up to 50 million pesos to anyone who provides timely information that will help find those responsible for this incident. This is an action that demonstrates our firm commitment to justice and the safety of all Sonsonate residents.
I have also asked the commanders of the Police and the Army to urgently convene a security council in our municipality. This meeting will have the objective of taking decisive measures to reinforce security and guarantee the tranquility of our community.
At this painful time, we send our deepest condolences to the family of Miguel Otálvaro Jiménez. I assure you that we will do everything in our power to ensure that this case does not go unpunished and that Sonsón is a safe place for everyone.
