New York travelogue with P2 from Korea – 1. Planning, moving, airport lounge

I live in Boston and P2 lives in Korea.

This Chuseok holiday, P2 took a vacation and came to the US to visit.

Even when we were together in the US before, we never went to New York together.

Because P2 really wanted to see a Broadway musical at least once,

I have planned a 4 night stay in New York and a 3 night stay in Boston.

I went to New York with a couple of friends 3 years ago (without P2).

I also posted a review at that time.

First New York Trip – 1 (First Accommodation: Hyatt House Jersey City)

First New York Travelogue – 2 (Second Accommodation: Conrad New York Downtown)

First New York Travelogue – 3 (Two Observatories: The Edge, Top of the Rock)

First New York Travelogue – 4 (Two Sculptures: Vessel, Statue of Liberty)

First New York Travelogue – 5 (Other Attractions: MOMA, 9/11, Times Square, High Line, etc.)

First New York Travelogue – 6 (Japanese Restaurant: Ichiran, Sushi Azabu)

First New York Travelogue – 7 (Meat Restaurants: Peter Luger, Gopchang Story, Samwon Garden)

First New York Travelogue – 8 (Desserts: Starbucks Reserve, Dominique Ansel, Fat Witch, Van Leeuwen, Grace Street)

First New York Travelogue – 9 (Other restaurants: Sarabeth’s, Sant Ambroeus, Le Pain Quotidien, Artichoke Basille’s Pizza)

First New York Travelogue – 10, The Last (JFK Centurion Lounge)

Based on that experience, I planned my trip,

I saved places I wanted to go to on Google Maps and went there.

Especially in the case of restaurants, P2 goes wherever he wants each day,

I’m looking for some good restaurants along the route.

I go there as the time goes by.

For those of you planning a trip to New York, I’m sharing a Google Map.

New York Travel 2021 Google Map –

New York Travel 2024 Google Maps –

P2 is scheduled to be in New York and out of Boston.

I also went to BOS-JFK to meet P2 at JFK.

(If not for this reason, I would never go to JFK)

I met P2 at JFK and went to the hotel together.

Sapphire Lounge at BOS (terminal B)

This is the Sapphire Lounge at Boston Airport, which I have reviewed several times before.

For more information about the lounge, please refer to previous reviews.

Travelogue of Korea to attend my younger brother’s wedding – 1. BOS-YYZ-ICN (Air Canada Biz)

There was pancakes on the menu that you could take home, so I took some and they were good.

As mentioned in the second review above, I visited during breakfast time.

Among the menus ordered through the app, there are some I have never seen before.

A slightly modified version of Eggs Benedict (I remember it had crab meat on it)

I ordered toast with scrambled eggs, and both were delicious.

BOS-JFK via Jetblue

I planned to arrive at JFK at the same time as P2 and JFK arrival times.

My flight was delayed.

That was after all the passengers had boarded.

They said on the air that there was some problem with maintenance.

I’ve broadcasted several times that I don’t know when it will be completed or if it will be available on the same day.

I have confirmed that the departure time has changed several times on the app.

After about an hour of delay, the broadcast came back.

Passengers with connecting flights who are unlikely to be able to board their connecting flight:

They said if I get off now and talk to the ground crew, they can get me another route.

It looks like about half the passengers got off.

Since I didn’t have a connecting flight, I just sat there for a while.

It was difficult because I didn’t know when I would leave or if I would be able to leave at all.

Fortunately, P2 arrived safely at JFK.

Because the immigration line was so long, it took almost 2 hours.

I’m glad I didn’t have to wait long.

Eventually, we were able to depart after a delay of a little over two hours.

But there was definitely something wrong with the aircraft,

Even when I look at the flight map on the seat screen, the current location of the plane doesn’t appear.

And originally scheduled from 10:15am-11:28am

The flight time was a little over an hour,

The captain made an announcement when the plane departed.

The estimated flight time is 38 minutes…

Are you speeding because you’re late?

Actually, it took about that long to get there.

Get to the hotel via Korean Taxi

I booked a Korean taxi to get to the New York airport.

After comparing several Korean taxi companies,

8282 New York Korean Taxi –

New York Angel Taxi –

It was the cheapest based on my route,

I have reserved a taxi for 8282 New York Korean Taxi.

There was a free waiting period of one and a half hours after the plane landed,

Because I got on the train more than 2 hours after the original reservation time,

I paid an additional $30 for waiting for one hour.

Up until this point it was fine, but for other reasons I don’t recommend this Korean taxi…

First of all, the reporter said a lot of uncomfortable things.

From the hardships I experienced when I came to the US when I was young (including semi-illegal matters),

I have had the experience of receiving ridiculously high taxi fares from Asian customers whom my fellow drivers did not know well.

When talking about the fights with black people, they also disparage them by calling them niggers…

And almost to the Hugh L. Carey tunnel

(There is a hotel in downtown Manhattan)

You can get there quickly by using the tunnel,

Since the tunnel is toll-free, I have to pay the fee to use the tunnel.

He asked me to decide whether to go back by another route that would take more time…

Since I don’t know those routes very well, I asked how long it would take for the two of them.

They said it would take about 8 minutes if you use the tunnel, and 18 to 20 minutes if you go around.

Anyway, the travel time from the airport was about 45 minutes.

I told him to go back because I thought the 10-minute difference wouldn’t mean much.

You said I had bad luck today.

Even though I was on my way back after that,

Navi continued to guide us towards the tunnel.

Maybe because of this, you couldn’t find your way properly and wandered around.

You can stop the car for a moment, go outside, check something, and come back.

In the end, I said I would just pay the tunnel fee and go through the tunnel, so we went through the tunnel.

I had originally made a reservation when I was going back to Boston to get to the airport.

I cancelled my reservation and took Uber.

Sapphire Lounge at LGA (Terminal B)

Although it was the last schedule, I am including it in this post as a lounge review.

On my way back to Boston, I took Jetblue from LGA to BOS.

Likewise, I used the Sapphire Lounge.

At this time, P2 was suffering from body aches, so there are not many pictures.

The lounge consists of two floors.

Maybe because there is no bar or stand to take food upstairs?

There were hardly any guests,

The lower floor was almost full.

I thought there wouldn’t be many people since I visited around lunchtime on a weekday, but it was surprisingly quiet.

Other menus in the app were also available at the Boston Sapphire Lounge.

I ordered grilled salmon, which I had never tried before, and it was good.

I didn’t take any pictures, but

Among the menus I took home, there was a menu similar to tangsuyuk.

It was quite tasty, perhaps because it was freshly fried.

However, unlike Boston, all the food was served on disposable plates.

(As you can see in the picture above, this is a menu that you can order through the app)

It felt like the quality was relatively low.

Overall, I think the Boston Sapphire Lounge is better.

The following article will contain a review of the hotel I stayed at in New York.

1 night stay at Conrad New York Downtown,

Stayed 3 nights at The Luxury Collection Hotel Manhattan Midtown
