MEXICO CITY.- The president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), minister Norma Lucia Pineapple Hernandezopened a new query to the Plenary of Ministers on the admissibility of a dispute that magistrates and judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation filed to suspend the application of the judicial reform due to defects in the legislative process and its content.
He matter was classified as urgent and it was referred to Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá to prepare a project that he must submit to the full SCJN.
“The Full Court is consulted on the admissibility of the controversy provided for in article 11, section XXII, of the Organic Law of the Judicial Branch of the Federation to challenge reforms to the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, whether regarding compliance with the formalities of the respective legislative procedure, or its material content, in accordance with section III,” states the agreement published on Wednesday.
Judge Froylán Muñoz Alvarado reported that they presented the controversy to the Court with a request for suspension of the judicial reform, in accordance with article 11, section XXII, of the Organic Law of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, “because it is an act that dismantles a constituted Power.”
