VOCALIST of the band Gigi Armand Maulana said that in order to produce a song, he gets references from many music genres. According to Armand, who also has a solo project, the more references there are, the easier it will be for someone to arrange and create a new song.

“For me, the more I listen to songs from various genres, the more references I have for composing songs. For example, I like rock, but until now I also listen to jazz, dangdut, pop. The musical element is what will enrich us when we have a song or get a song from someone, and what year will be suitable for us later,” said Armand Maulana while performing at Nowfest 2024 which also coincided with Oppal’s second birthday, at Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (18/9).

Armand continued, music today is very cross genre. So, when listening to more genres, it will enrich the knowledge of song arrangement.

Besides that, to be able to continue to exist in the music industry for 30 years, according to Armand, the important key is to maintain a down-to-earth attitude.

“It seems that those who have a long career are people who are relaxed. Relax, when you go down the stage, you’ll be back to being a normal person. Only on stage is praised,” said Armand.

According to Armand, when you have a work that explodes and goes viral, don’t immediately make someone arrogant.

“I keep getting a lot of calls, but if my attitude is bad, I’ll be gossiped about later, spreading unpleasant gossip.” It even became a boomerang for myself,” said Armand. (M-3)
