HOCKEY. Luke Woodworth will be back home soon.

The captain of the Drummondville Voltigeurs was cut by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. After participating in rookie camp as a guest player, the 20-year-old forward took part in the Californian organization’s main camp.

After guiding the Voltigeurs to the Gilles-Courteau Trophy last spring, Luke Woodworth will play his fifth season in the QMJHL. The Nova Scotian holds a few team records, including those for most consecutive games played (232) and most shootout goals in a career (seven).

This means that the Voltigeurs now have two of their four veterans participating in professional camps back. 20-year-old goaltender Riley Mercer returned to Drummondville after skating with the Minnesota Wild’s top prospects. 19-year-old forward Ethan Gauthier (Tampa Bay Lightning) and 19-year-old defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet (Buffalo Sabres) are still present at their respective teams’ camps.
