Good news about the new Yakuza spin-off game

RGG Studio recently announced the next Yakuza game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and based on the story, it seems that Majima Goro will wake up on an unknown island, suffering from amnesia, but after helping the boy Rich Noah who he will meet upon his arrival, Majima Goro will fight with pirates before becoming a captain of a sea ship himself.

Things will then escalate when the game’s protagonist will face an organization known as Madlantis and its leader, Queen Michelle, and it seems from this explanation that the game will offer a side story, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and the city of Honolulu, which was revealed during the announcement, is one of the three regions that players will be able to explore in the game.

RGG studio president Masayoshi Yokoyama was asked if the story size would be similar to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and he told Famitsu that Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’s story size would be 1.3 to 1.5 times larger, without mentioning the exact size of the area in which the game’s events will take place, but he did confirm that the overall size of the game is “much larger” than the aforementioned Gaiden game.

Yokoyama also said that the game’s production period was long and that the team had to keep it a secret for some time, and interestingly, there are a lot of other surprises that have apparently not been revealed yet.

This will be issued Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii February 28, 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC, priced at $59.99 (with a Digital Deluxe Edition also available).
