SEGA revela Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

After weeks of anticipation, the RGG Summit was finally held on September 20th, a presentation where Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed its next project. To the surprise of many, this will be a new spin-off of Like a Dragonwhich will focus entirely on Majima Goro, the beloved Yakuza character.

The studio’s next big project will be Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Similar to what we saw with Like a Dragon Gaiden last year, This new installment is a spin-off, only this time Goro Majima will be the protagonist.Here, we will see a traditional action combat system for the series, leaving aside the turn-based RPG of Infinite Wealth.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will take place six months after the events of Infinite Wealthwhere Majima wakes up on an island near Hawaii, but with no memory of how he got to this place. In this way, Shimano’s Mad Dog will have to become a pirate to face a new danger and try to return to Japan.

As you could see in the trailer, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will have a combat system similar to Like a Dragon Gaiden, where Majima has access to two combat styles, as well as a series of extravagant movements focused on the character’s agility.Likewise, multiple traditional activities from the series are returning, such as karaoke and the Crazy Delivery minigame, and we are expected to see completely new secondary activities.

As a fan, I am beyond excited for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This seems to be the Majima adventure that many of us have been waiting for since Yakuza 0. It’s something incredible, and it’s impressive that a year after Infinite WealthRGG Studio delivers a new game to us.
