Suarez bite repeats in the English Premier League and an investigation into the incident

It happened during the final minutes of the match, after Blackburn Rovers young player Owen Beck, the nephew of former Liverpool legend Ian Rush, was involved in a brawl between players from the two teams in the 88th minute, when he kicked Preston North End player Duane Holmes after the referee blew his whistle for a foul, which angered his Montenegrin teammate Milutin Osmajic, who grabbed him by the shirt and bit him on the back of the neck in front of everyone, bringing to mind Luis Suarez’s famous bite on Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup.

The referee immediately went to the scene of the incident and broke up the fight and gave the aggressor Osmajic a yellow card, ignoring how unsportsmanlike his behavior was, while he showed the red card to the young defender (22 years old) who was attacked for kicking Duane Holmes.

But the incident did not go unnoticed, as the English Football Association opened an investigation into the strange incident.

The match witnessed the expulsion of a former Preston player, Sam Greenwood, at the end of the first half, specifically in the 42nd minute of the match.

The match ended in a goalless draw between the two teams, bringing Blackburn’s tally to 12 points in fifth place, four points behind leaders West Bromwich, while Preston North End is in 21st place with only five points.

Osmajic repeated the famous bite of the former Liverpool striker and current Inter Miami player, Luis Suarez, who in April 2013 bit Chelsea defender, Serbian Branislav Ivanovic, during his participation in the match between them at that time, before being suspended for four months. He also bit other players such as the Dutch Eindhoven player, Otman Bakkal, in November 2010, and he also repeated the act in the 2014 World Cup finals, when he bit the Italian defender, Giorgio Chiellini.

Because this was the third time that Suarez had done this against his opponents, FIFA decided to suspend him for 4 months, in addition to depriving him of 9 international matches with his country’s national team.
