A methane explosion occurred in two tunnels of the mine managed by the Madanjoo company, according to what was broadcast by the state Iranian television.
69 miners were working in the tunnels at the time of the explosion.

“Seventeen injured have been taken to the hospital, while another 24 miners are missing,” Iran’s state TV reported, citing the head of the Iranian Red Crescent.
The explosion took place yesterday at 21:00 local time, according to state media in Iran.
President Massoud Pezeskian expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. “I spoke with ministers and we will do the best we can to deal with the situation,” assured Pezeskian in his televised statements.
