Accident happened in the afternoon, around 1 p.m. Taurage district, Stragutė village. During that time, a Volvo S70 car, driven by a young man born in 2004, drove into the oncoming traffic lane while overtaking and collided with an oncoming Honda NT650 motorcycle.
The latter was driven by M. Malinskas, a 45-year-old member of the Neringa Municipality Council. The motorcycle driver, who was injured in the traffic accident, died on the way to the hospital.
A famous pharmacist
As Neringa municipality representative Sandra Vaišvilaitė informed BNS, M. Malinskas was elected as a member of the council for the first time. He represented the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party.
“He is known to our community as a pharmacist, he worked at Europharmacy. He was born in Kėdainiai, obtained a master’s degree at the Kaunas Medical University, worked as a pharmacist in Neringa and stayed there,” said S. Vaišvilaitė.
According to her, the man had been living in the Curonian Spit for about ten years, was integrated into the community, played in the band.
The mayor is shocked
The mayor of Neringa, Darius Jasaitis, expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and said that he was shocked by the loss.
“I don’t know why God is in a hurry to take bright and honorable people to heaven. I am shocked together with the entire community of Neringa: we lost Marius Malinskas.
A member of the Neringa Municipality Council is a product of the trust of the people of Neringa. But the most important thing is that Marius was a man who, while working in the Nida pharmacy, treated not only our bodies, but also our souls.
