Hezbollah Promises to Retaliate against Israel’s Actions

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah vowed to turn Israel’s actions into hell, after the group suffered a major blow when a communications device was blown up earlier this week in Lebanon.

Nasrallah made the remarks in a televised speech in response to the blast that killed 37 people and wounded thousands. “We acknowledge that we have received a fair blow because we recognize the superiority of Israeli technology, which is supported by the US, NATO and the West. The Israeli enemy seeks to kill 5,000 people in just two minutes, without caring about anything,” Nasrallah said, as reported by Anadolu, Friday (9/20)

The number of pagers carried by Hezbollah members was 4,000, meaning Israel deliberately tried to kill 4,000 people, he said. The explosion will be met with an appropriate punishment.

He warned Israel that if they build a security belt on Lebanese territory, the country will turn into a trap and hell.

Nasrallah added that several investigative commissions were formed to examine the circumstances of the explosion and they had reached almost certain conclusions, but the Lebanese resistance groups were still waiting for confirmation.

He noted that the severity of eye injuries caused by the explosions has put significant pressure on hospitals in Lebanon. Nasrallah further pointed out that many of the explosions took place in hospitals, markets, public roads and houses in areas mostly inhabited by civilians, including children and women.

His speech coincided with intensive flights of Israeli warplanes flying at low altitude over the Lebanese capital, Beirut, breaking the sound barrier several times.

The Hezbollah chief dismissed the explosion as a natural occurrence, saying, “This is the nature of war and conflict. We know that our enemy has a technological advantage because America supports it, along with NATO and the West.”

He stressed that the Lebanese front will not stop until the war on Gaza stops. Nasrallah noted that senior Hezbollah leaders did not carry pager devices like the one that exploded and stressed that the resistance structure remains large and cohesive.

Nasrallah ended his speech by saying that what happened on Tuesday and Wednesday will be met with a just response and a harsh reckoning. At least 37 people were killed and nearly 3,000 others were injured in the blasts that targeted thousands of wireless communication devices across the country.

There was no immediate comment from Israel on the blast, which comes amid escalating cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Israel’s deadly war on the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 41,300 people, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
