This movie is my answer to those who asked me to make good movies like in Malayalam: Karthi
Karthi is one of the best actors in Tamil. Karthi started his career as an assistant to Mani Ratnam and made his debut as a hero in Paruthiveeran which was released in 2007. He entered the ranks of Tamil leading actors with films like Paya, Sirutai, Theeran and Madras. Karthi also scored his first Rs 100 crore film in his career with Kaiti directed by Lokesh Kanakraj.
“Meiyazhakan” is Kati’s new film after Japan. Kati said that he first heard the story of this film through someone else. Kati said that at that time, director Prem Kumar had prepared the story in the form of a novel, and he had the urge to make a movie as soon as he finished reading it.
Karthi added that he told Suriya that when he gets to know the producers, he will narrate the story and try to do it in 2D. Karthi said that as soon as Suriya heard the story, he agreed to do the project and he was doubly happy when Arvind Swamy came on board for the film.
Karthi added that while attending many events, people would introduce them to good Malayalam films and ask to watch similar films. Karthi added that Mayyazhaka is the answer to these problems. He was speaking at a promotional event for Mayyazhaka.
“I had not heard the story of the film from Premin. It was a second-hand story. There was no script then. Prem had written the story like a novel. I called Prem, bought the novel and read it. It was a very touching story. Turn it into a script, Annie said I will do it. When I wondered if I could get a producer, I said to Prem that I would tell the story to Chetan and he would look into it.
When Chetan heard the story, he agreed to make it. I was doubly happy when Arvind Swami also spoke about it. When we watch many shows, people ask us, “Malayalam has good films now, when will such films come here”? Mayyazhakan is the answer to those who ask such questions. “said Karthi.
