Ried remains second division leader after comeback win in Amstetten

Ried conceded goals again after ten league games in which they had kept a clean sheet. After seven rounds, however, the unbeaten Innviertler team is still one point ahead of Kapfenberger SV in first place in the table.

Amstetten’s Felix Köchl ended Ried captain Andreas Leitner’s goal drought after a pass from Jannik Wanner from close range (14th). Ried had not conceded a goal in 977 league minutes up to that point. Thomas Mayer increased the lead to 2-0 in front of 1,180 spectators after a switch situation (28th). The favored guests only came into the game better in the course of the first half and scored a goal with a deflected shot from David Berger (33rd).

In the final phase, goals from Philipp Pomer (83′) and Jonas Mayer (88′) turned the game around. Fabian Wohlmuth fought for the ball in the opponent’s penalty area for the decisive goal. A minute earlier, Köchl had almost put Amstetten in the lead with a shot that hit the crossbar. Instead, the Lower Austrians suffered their third competitive defeat in a row. After a strong start to the season, they are now only in seventh place.
