Miedź Legnica outscored Ruch Chorzów. Mindless behavior of the visiting captain

Both teams do not hide their aspirations. Before the direct clash, Miedź was higher in the table, having three points more than Ruch and one game played less. After the change of coach, the Chorzów team won two games and dreamed of another full set of points.

From the first minutes, no one was going to take any risks. The home team managed to create a dangerous opportunity. In the 7th minute, Florian Hartherz raced down the left side and made a precise cross. Adnan Kovacevic headed the ball from five meters just above the goal. Eleven minutes later, Szymin Szymański made a mistake at the back and passed the ball to his opponent. Jacek Podgórski failed to shoot, and a moment later Iwo Kaczmarski overshot from the penalty area.

With each passing minute, Chorzów players had more and more to say. However, the visitors were unable to create a 100% chance. After two quarters of an hour, after a pass from the left, Soma Novothny missed from six meters.

Four minutes later, Mo Mezghrani struck from about 30 meters just over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Szymon Karasiński shot hard from distance, straight at the well-positioned Jakub Wrąbel. Just before the break, Ruch had the best chance to score. Novothny headed the ball from five meters. He missed the goal.

After the break, Ruch tried to attack, but it was Miedź who dealt the blow. In the 49th minute, after a cross from a corner kick, the unattended Adnan Kovacevic headed into the goal!

The surprised Blues were unable to respond, and the Legnica players were looking for another goal. In the 53rd minute, Kamil Antonik tricked a defender in the penalty area and all it took was a good shot. The player skidded.

The goal was scored a moment later, when Chorzów lost the ball in front of their own goal once again. Benedik Miocia’s header bounced off the post, and a defender cleared the ball a moment later. The referee pointed to the center, and VAR upheld the decision. It should be added that replays did not provide any certainty that the ball had completely crossed the line.

Trailing by two goals, Ruch tried to attack, but from the 66th minute they had another problem. Maciej Sadlok could not hold out and commented on the referee’s rather controversial decision. The referee showed the Ruch captain a yellow card, after which Sadlok started applauding him. Damian Kos, who was just waiting for it, immediately punished the defender with a second card and the guests played with ten men.

The Chorzów team, weakened, could do little. Several times it became dangerous near Wrąbel’s goal, but nothing concrete. It was Miedź that dealt the third blow. In the 87th minute, after a free kick and confusion, Marcel Mansfeld shot into the net from close range.

Despite not playing a great match, the hosts managed to secure an impressive win until the end and moved up to 3rd place in the table.
