Trinidad Maternal and Child Hospital expands care capacity and modernizes facilities

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Health reports that the Maternal and Child Hospital has gone from six intensive care beds to nine and from three intermediate care beds to four, which means that it currently has 13 beds in the therapy area. In addition, renovations were carried out in areas such as the kitchen and waiting rooms, with the aim of providing a better service.

The Minister of Health, María Teresa Barán, visited the healthcare center located in Santísima Trinidad on Tuesday, where she toured the facilities, after the completion of important renovation and remodeling works. She urged to maintain teamwork and highlighted the empowerment in the Hospital.

The hospital director, Dr. Diego Brítez, accompanied the tour, showing the current state of the Pediatric Emergency Department and Medical Clinic, whose offices were renovated, as well as the resuscitation area and the hydration islands.

Minister Barán urged officials to continue moving forward with new services, expanding the number of places for hospitalization, so that waiting times can decrease and users can continue to receive better care, she emphasized.

The director explained that the renovations also affected other areas such as the kitchen and waiting rooms, with the aim of providing a better service. “We intend to establish a closer relationship with the community, to provide them with comfort and attention that stands out for its quality and warmth,” said the doctor.

On this occasion, two procedure stretchers were made available in the emergency room, which now also has medical gases with central support.

The neonatal intermediate care area, with 4 units, was completely refurbished. With this upgrade, the Santísima Trinidad hospital will go from 9 to 13 beds, with 9 for intensive care and 4 for intermediate care.

Community impact

The Maternity and Children’s Hospital, which serves between 1,200 and 3,000 patients daily, remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community, without having interrupted its services during the renovation works.

Furthermore, with 1,400 to 1,500 births per year, these improvements strengthen its capacity to care for patients and respond to the growing demand of the population.

This progress demonstrates the priority of ensuring high-quality medical services, with greater accessibility and warmth for all citizens, says the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
