PCJL is part of the Karhutla Task Force in Jambi Province together with the TNI, Indonesian Police, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), firefighters and local communities.

To support disaster preparedness efforts, the PCJL forest fire team also deployed various forest fire extinguishing facilities and equipment including fire trucks, portable fire water pumps, fire extinguishers, and portable ground monitors.

In addition, PetroChina also contributed by providing fuel and diesel fuel for firefighting vehicles as well as food supplies for Karhutla Task Force personnel.

Head of the Department of Formality and Communication of SKK Migas Sumbagsel, Safe’i said that upstream oil and gas activities are activities that are required and emphasized by SKK Migas to be carried out massively, aggressively and efficiently to find oil and gas reserves in order to maintain national energy security.

With various efforts made to realize this, upstream oil and gas activities are also required to provide a multiplier effect to the areas where operations are running. Activities and programs to provide a multiplier effect on upstream oil and gas activities include development support that is synergized with local governments, community development programs and environmental concerns.

All of these activities must run side by side and simultaneously to be able to provide welfare for the community. “This must also be implemented and realized by PetroChina as a company operating in the Jambi region,” said Safe’i.
