Operation Sikat Jaya, South Jakarta Police Arrest 19 Criminals

South Jakarta Metro Police arrested 19 suspects in Operation Sikat Jaya 2024 as an effort to create a safe and conducive area.

“The number of cases is 13 cases with a total of 19 suspects,” said the Head of the Criminal Research Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKB Gogo Galesung, in a press conference in Jakarta, Friday (20/9).

Gogo said the dozens of suspects arrested committed various crimes ranging from motorcycle theft, assault to embezzlement. Operation Sikat Jaya was held for 14 days, namely from 9 to 23 August 2024.

Tebet Police Station was the one that uncovered the most cases during Operation Sikat Jaya 2024, namely four cases. One of them was motor vehicle theft (curanmor).

“There are four crime scenes for motorbike theft cases in South Jakarta. Two cases in Tebet and one each in Kebayoran Lama and Jagakarsa,” said Gogo.

Meanwhile, there is one suspect who was charged with the Emergency Law (UU) because he was caught carrying a sharp weapon. The suspect was arrested by the Kebayoran Baru Police.

The evidence secured during Operation Sikat Jaya 2024 includes four motorbikes, 10 mobile phones, two CCTV cameras, one sharp weapon and Rp3 million. “A total of 19 suspects have been detained, some have been transferred to stage 2. There were no fatalities,” he said. (Ant/J-2)
