91-year-old killed in burglary in Vienna: Police seek suspect

After the body was found on September 4, the investigation assumed from the outset that the murder was the work of a third party. During the autopsy, it was determined that the suspect must have committed acts against the 91-year-old’s sexual integrity and then killed her by hitting her with a blunt object.

Based on the DNA evidence and further investigations, the detectives identified the 52-year-old Slovakian citizen as the suspected perpetrator. According to police, he is around 160 cm tall, has a stubbled head and a solid build, and speaks Slovakian, Hungarian and broken German.

Eye-catching tattoo

The man has dots tattooed on the back of his left hand and a flower tattooed on his left forearm, and a plant motif (leaf or similar) on his right arm. The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested that a photograph of the suspected perpetrator be published. Any relevant information will be treated as strictly confidential and, if requested, anonymously. Please contact the Vienna State Criminal Police Office on 01-31310-33800.

The Association of Friends of the Vienna Police has offered a cash reward of 5,000 euros for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. The following questions in particular are being put to the public: Who knows this person or the whereabouts of this man? And has anyone been told about the crime or has anyone heard that a person with relevant knowledge of the perpetrator has spoken about it?
