Joel Ordóñez did his job, but Bruges lost to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League

For date 1 of the league phase of the Champions Leaguehe Club Brugge con Joel Ordonez as a starter he ended up losing 3-0 to the Borussia Dortmundat the Jan Breydel Stadium.

The match started in a great way for the locals, who had the best chances and knew how to complicate the last finalist of the European competition; however, the inexperience of the Belgian team did not allow them to take any advantage.

The last 15 minutes of the match were terrifying for Brugge, as Dortmund improved with the changes and Jamie Gittens scored after a slight deflection by Kyriani Sabbe and Joel Ordonez, then the Briton managed to increase the lead with a great goal. In the final play, a penalty was awarded in favour of the Germans, and Guirassy was responsible for sealing the score at 3-0.

Despite having the bad luck to touch the ball in Borussia Dortmund’s first goal, Joel Ordóñez had a great participation in his first official UEFA Champions League match. The Tri centre-back was attentive in marking, clean in his exits and showed good individual skills. Unfortunately, his team fell asleep and paid dearly for its inexperience against the current runners-up of the tournament.

The defender played the full 90 minutes, completed 46 of 49 (94%) passes, won 3 of 6 on-field duels; he also had 5 clearances, 2 interceptions, 2 dribbles and 1 tackle.

In the next round of the Champions League, Club Brugge will visit Sturm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. On the other hand, in the local tournament, they will face Gent this Sunday.
