In response to a question, he said that if Fakhar was not a cricketer, he would have served Pakistan by working in the Navy.

Fakhar’s elder brother Dr Gohar Zaman said that his entire family watches Fakhar’s matches on TV together.
“When Fakhr plays, you watch heart-to-heart matches and every ball gets hit because their batting style is such that they don’t get out on the next ball.”
They said that they were all happy when Fakhar came into form and got rid of injury and then they thanked Allah for scoring well.
Dr Gohar said that Fakhar is a cricket fan, during his school days he used to play tennis ball in the streets and fields in his area of Katling Mardan.
He further said that due to lack of sports facilities, Fakhr faced a lot of difficulties, then after joining the Navy, he started playing regular hardball.
He said that Fakhar has opened a state-of-the-art indoor Fakhar Zaman Cricket Academy in Mardan for children in consideration of their difficulties, besides an outdoor academy is being built in Risalpur Cantt under the name of Garrison Cricket Academy. .
With this effort, not only the children will get to learn cricket, but Fakhar himself also practices in his academy when he comes to Mardan.
