The Northern Corridor project is more than 70% complete, benefiting communities in San Pedro and Concepción

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The construction of the Northern Corridor between the two departments has reached 71.9% progress and covers 150 kilometers of the PY22 route, benefiting more than 400,000 people from the cities of San Pedro del Ycuamandiyú, Nueva Germania, Concepción, Horqueta and Belén.

This project is promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications and financed by the Fund for the Structural Convergence of Mercosur (Focem), with an investment of G. 658,885 million. It will improve not only mobility in the north, but also the quality of life of its inhabitants, becoming a transformative element of the entire local and regional economy.

There are three lots

In Lot 1, awarded to the company Ecomipa, the items that are completed consist of the construction of an embankment at km 45, a soil-cement subbase at km 35 and soil-cement works in the Pavón Cué area. These activities, complemented by deep drainage and lining of ditches, allow a progress of 57.11%.

Lot 2, managed by the Consorcio Vial Oriental, covers from km 50 to km 88.8 in Belén. In this section, a 200-meter bridge is being built over the Ypané River and access to the Ybapovó port is also being improved, with 68.49% progress.

Lot 3 in the final stretch

In the third and final lot, which connects Horqueta with Belén and Concepción, more than 90% of the works have been completed. In this last stage, complementary tasks are being carried out, such as signage and final improvements in the section between km 24.5 of route D029 and km 43.9 of route PY22, reports the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.
