Vaccination in pharmacies – The platform opens in October

Citizens will also be able to get a “double” vaccination against the flu and the coronavirus from pharmacies this fall. Most pharmacies are already stocked with this year’s flu vaccines and are awaiting the release of the updated instructions – recommendations of the National Immunization Committee.

Flu shots are expected to begin in October.

This year, for the first time, the vaccination for COVID-19 will also be available from neighborhood pharmacies, in an effort to simplify the process, so that an ever larger part of the population can be vaccinated. There is always the possibility of vaccination for COVID-19 from public health facilities, by appointment through the online platform emvolio.gov.gr.

According to what the president of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, Apostolos Valtas, reported to “Kathimerini”, the platform on which the new process of procuring vaccines through pharmacists and administering them to citizens will “run” is almost ready and it is estimated that it will be able to to begin the third ten days of October. The main difference of the new system is that each interested citizen will inform the pharmacy that they wish to be vaccinated and then the pharmacist will arrange the relevant appointment, after collecting the necessary number of citizens who want to be vaccinated, in order to avoid missing doses (six citizens per bottle).

As defined by the legal framework, the pharmacy will be paid by the citizen for this service with 5 euros plus VAT.
