CULIACAN.- The capital of Sinaloa is experiencing the fourth consecutive day of a wave of violence that has so far left twelve people dead.
In the face of the current security crisis in Culiacan Independence Day celebrations have been suspended, as well as classes for today and tomorrow, Friday.
Armed attacks against soldiers, chases and destruction of vehicles have been reported in several areas of Culiacán and nearby municipalities.
Twelve dead in wave of violence in Culiacán
At least twelve people have lost their lives during the four days of violence in Culiacan, Sinaloa.
The bodies of three of the 12 deceased were found on a street in the colony expansion of the neighborhood.
Authorities reported that the bodies were three males with gunshot wounds, one of them identified by the nickname ‘The Chinese’, who had a head wound.
Another victim was found in a wooded area near the Montebello subdivisionbut has not been identified. She also had gunshot wounds.

In a shopping plaza, located in the same subdivision, armed men murdered another person who was leaving the wholesale shopping store.
The business was closed due to the explosions to protect customers and employees.

In the Miguel Hidalgo colony, Gunmen repeatedly fired at a used car sales business, damaging several units.
This was alerted to the authorities by means of a call to the emergency number.
At least five units were damaged by bullet impacts.
In addition, during the early hours of this Thursday, a 16-year-old boy entered the Sinaloa Children’s Hospital with gunshot wounds, allegedly after an armed attack in the Las Coloradas colony.

“Paralysis of the economy” due to wave of violence
Former presidents of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco) of Culiacán expressed their concern about the violence in the area, which has led to a “paralysis of the economy.”
Through a statement, they demanded that authorities at all three levels guarantee the safety of the population.
