THE GOVERNMENT continues to encourage increased investment in East Kalimantan Province along with the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN). Through the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP), East Kalimantan Province held “The Journey of Mahakam Investment Forum 2024” as a strategic step to increase investment in the region. This activity was held with the aim of accelerating the transformation of the natural resource-based economy and strengthening infrastructure in East Kalimantan.

Head of DPMPTSP of East Kalimantan Province, Fahmi Prima Laksana, explained that this forum is part of the implementation of the Investment Enhancement Strategy through Investment Service Acceleration in East Kalimantan, known as SENI ASLI KALTIM. In this forum, various leading investment projects were presented, including industrial downstream projects and Special Economic Zones (KEK) that have been equipped with pre-feasibility studies.

The Assistant for Economics and Development Administration representing the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan, Ujang Rachmad, emphasized that East Kalimantan is currently at an important moment with the presence of major projects such as the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) and various investment opportunities from the energy, tourism, to agribusiness sectors.

“Through this forum, we want to show that East Kalimantan is ready to welcome investors with various facilities, incentives, and a commitment to provide legal certainty and investment security,” said Ujang.

The forum consisted of two main sessions: Project Expose, moderated by a moderator, and One-on-One Meeting between project managers and potential investors. A key moment in the event was the signing of two memorandums of understanding (MoU) on investment cooperation between Anhui Guanxin Agrochemical and Perusda Melati Bhakti Satya, as well as Zhejing Ruizhi Fuel Co. Ltd and Fajar Bumi Bhakti. This cooperation covers the agricultural sector and biomass raw material processing, as a follow-up to the sister-province agreement between East Kalimantan and Anhui Province, China.

The Journey of Mahakam Investment Forum 2024 is expected to attract global investors by offering 17 investment projects. This activity took place at The Stones Hotel, Kuta Bali, and was attended by 100 participants from various sectors, emphasizing East Kalimantan’s readiness to utilize its regional potential to support the development of the Indonesian Capital City.
