Anker recalls MagSafe battery packs due to fire risk

The accessories manufacturer Anker announced today o recall of three models of MagSafe battery packs for iPhones. The recall was prompted by a manufacturing defect in the lithium-ion batteries, which can overheat and pose a fire risk.

According to the company, the affected models are: Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K, model A1642), Anker Power Bank (model A1647) and Anker MagGo Power Bank (model A1652).

Although only a small number of batteries are potentially affected, the company said it has decided to recall all units manufactured between January 3rd e September 17, 2024as a precaution.

Users are advised to stop using the affected devices, store them safely, check the serial number, and fill out a form to receive a replacement. Model numbers are listed on the bottom or back of the devices.

In June of last year, Anker recalled another model of external battery, the 535 Power Bank (PowerCore 20K). At that time, the company identified an issue that also presented a risk of overheating and fire.
