Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities in recent months, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year.

On October 31, a policeman was martyred by unknown militants firing on a police camp in Dera Ismail Khan, on the same day two soldiers were martyred in an IED blast in South Waziristan district.

In July this year, 12 Pakistan Army personnel were martyred during two separate operations in Sui and Zhob districts of Balochistan.

This was the worst incident to happen to the security forces in a day this year, earlier in February 2022, 10 personnel were martyred in firing in Kech district of Balochistan.

In September, data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the number of terrorist attacks in August was the highest in nine years.

The report said that 99 terrorist attacks were the highest in a single month since November 2014 across the country.
