Raleigh.- Get to know the weather for the weekend and take precautions, as there may be some showers and isolated storms in much of North Carolina.

According to the Department of Emergency Managementthe possibility of isolated showers and storms continues for today, Friday, September 20, 2024.

While the temperature for this day will be between 80° and 85° and at night they will drop between 60° and 64°.

Weekend with rains

For the following days of the weekend, authorities predict the probability of rain during the night hours.

“Saturday will remain mostly dry, but a chance of showers in parts of central North Carolina overnight cannot be ruled out,” they said.

Temperatures on Saturday, September 21 will be between 81° and 84°, but will drop to the same levels as Friday at night.

On Sunday, temperatures will rise between 84° and 90° during the day and will settle between 62° and 67° at night.

But officials warn that by Sunday afternoon and evening, rain chances will increase across central and eastern North Carolina.

And for the beginning of next week, “the trend of rain and isolated storms will continue on Monday” and will increase on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Flood warnings

Meanwhile, authorities say flood warnings are still in effect for central, eastern and coastal NC in the event of rain.

“Coastal flooding will continue to be a risk given the above normal tidal cycle over the weekend,” they said.

This is due to the presence of “large waves that will increase the risk of seawater overload, especially on the Outer Banks,” they added.

They also explained that a coastal flood warning remains in effect for downtown Wilmington and inland Brunswick County.
