Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Prison Health Department of the Ministry of Justice opened a fully renovated health ward at the “Casa del Buen Pastor” Women’s Penitentiary Center on Wednesday, with the aim of improving the comprehensive health care of 549 women deprived of liberty (MPL).
The work included structural improvements and refurbishment of hospital equipment, installation of new ceramic floors and tiles, plumbing repairs, plastering, remodeling and painting of walls and doors, new sinks, showers and sanitary accessories, replacement and change of glass rockers, and new lighting fixtures.
The funds were donated by religious centers of the United Christian Churches, which provide care and services at the facility. In addition, new hospital mattresses and sets of sheets were purchased, as well as stretchers and beds.
The new additions are designed to ensure the comprehensive health of the MPL, with a staff of 28 white-collar personnel in different specialties.
The space provided offers an expanded health unit with clinical medical services, gynecology, traumatology, nutrition, pediatrics, psychology, dentistry, psychology, observation and outpatient hospitalization area, as well as obstetrics. The investment amounts to 20,000,000 guaraníes.
