The race for the White House remains a technical tie, polls say

Race for the White House remains a technical tie! US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris debated better than former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, but the race for the White House remains tied, according to a poll released Thursday.

Harris impressed voters in her debate with Trump, according to a new series of polls jointly commissioned by The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Siena College, even though she has yet to secure a decisive lead in the presidential campaign.

The vice president received far more positive reviews for her performance in last week’s debate than Trump: 67 percent of voters surveyed said the Democrat did well, while 40 percent praised the billionaire’s performance.

Additionally, majorities of voters across all racial groups, ages and education levels — including white voters without a college education, who tend to be Trump’s most loyal demographic — gave Harris a positive rating.

But the surveys showed that the proportion of voters who said they wanted to know more about Harris was nearly identical both before and after the debate, suggesting she may have missed an opportunity to answer questions or provide more details to the public.
