RABAT (Reuters) – A total of 152 individuals have been arrested in Morocco for promoting illegal immigration through social media to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, a government spokesperson announced on Thursday evening.
Recently, thousands of young people, primarily of Moroccan descent, have converged in Fnideq, a town in northern Morocco close to Ceuta, in an effort to enter Spanish territory.
“All attempts have been thwarted,” spokesman Mustapha Baitas stated. “Approximately 3,000 people have attempted illegal immigration,” he added.
