And, as if that wasn’t enough, with his second home run of the night Ohtani became the first player in history to compile a 50/50 season (50 home runs, 50 stolen bases – currently the number 17 of LA is at 51 in both statistics). And a performance like that did not leave indifferent even the big names of NBA basketball, yesterday and today (and not only: also Patrick Mahonesquarterback of the reigning NFL champion Chiefs expressed his admiration). “This guy is incredible!”, exclaimed for example LeBron Jamesand to stay on the subject of Lakers legends, also Magic Johnson (who has a stake in the Dodgers) doubled down: “I want to congratulate him on his first ever 50/50 season,” he wrote, before adding: “We Dodgers fans have a chance to be part of MLB history.” And toboundless admiration also came from the opposite coast, to the East, and precisely from Philadelphia: “Yes, Ohtani is the greatest of all time,” Joel Embiid declared. Who in 2023 was voted NBA MVP just as Ohtani was receiving the same award for the American League.
