The post Bogotá advances towards the decontamination of the Bogotá River after a court ruling appeared first on Minuto30.
Minuto30.com .- Bogotá will take a decisive step towards the complete decontamination of the waters of the Bogotá River thanks to a historic ruling by Judge Nelly Villamizar, of the Administrative Court of Cundinamarca; this is acknowledged by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán.
The judge lifted the precautionary measure that prevented the progress of the Canoas Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project, which will be responsible for decontaminating 70% of the river.
Currently, the Salitre WWTP contributes to the decontamination of 30% of the water, but with the approval of the new project, significant progress is expected in improving water quality. The court decision allows the bidding process to continue, award the project and begin its construction.
The development of this plant is in collaboration with the Regional Autonomous Corporation (CAR) of Cundinamarca, the Ministry of Finance and the Bogotá Water Company. The authorities have highlighted the importance of this environmental project, which not only represents a historical debt to the city, but will also have a positive impact on public health and the environment at a national level.
Bogotá will finally be able to move forward in the complete decontamination of the waters of the Bogotá River.
