DEPUTY Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni asked the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to resolve the alleged intimidation of journalists carried out by the South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Andi Rian Djajadi. If it cannot be resolved internally, he said, Commission III of the DPR will ask the Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo directly later.
“That’s an internal Polri matter first. If there is no resolution, we will ask about it through a working meeting with the Polri to come,” said Sahroni when contacted by reporters on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Previously, the Commissioner of the Indonesian National Police Commission, Poengky Indarti, asked the South Sulawesi Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Andi Rian Djajadi, to fulfill the invitation for clarification regarding the alleged intimidation of journalists from a national online media outlet.
Because, he said, Andi Rian had not responded to the clarification letter sent by the National Police Commission of the Republic of Indonesia which was sent since Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
“Not yet (responded by the South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Andi Rian). Kompolnas has sent a letter of clarification to the South Sulawesi Police with Kompolnas Letter No. B-325/Kompolnas/9/2024, dated September 10, 2024,” said Poengky when contacted by reporters on Friday, September 13, 2024.
However, Poengky said Kompolnas is still waiting for a cooperative attitude from Inspector General Andi Rian to fulfill the invitation for clarification. If the first clarification call is ignored, said Poengky, Kompolnas will send a second invitation for clarification to the South Sulawesi Police Chief.
Poengky emphasized that if Inspector General Andi Rian still does not heed the second clarification invitation later, then Kompolnas will take firm steps by visiting the South Sulawesi Regional Police. “If the second clarification has not been responded to, then we will come to the South Sulawesi Regional Police,” he explained.
