Q: Will this be a celebration/memory of what happened to the couple who first danced at La Falda 13 years ago?
Laura Sidra: In fact, this year is a special one for us because in June we had the pleasure of attending the 40th National Skirt Festival: the oldest festival in the world. It’s great to be back on this iconic stage where 13 years ago we gave our first speech as a couple. They are those beautiful emotions that tango gives us.
Q: Where do you think your passion for tango comes from?
LS: It all started with my love for dance, which I incorporated into tango as the years went by. A long time ago I decided to focus my passion on things I love: that’s how I learned that time is too precious to spend on things that don’t make you happy. Therefore, it is important to remember the relevance of doing something you are truly passionate about. Following a dream isn’t always easy and it often takes us out of our comfort zone, but it’s definitely worth trying.
The passion for 2×4 continues because of the passionate people who put their heart, work and effort into keeping tango alive.

Q: You have been dancing with Mauricio for many years. How do you keep doing it?
LS: For love, for continuing to pursue dreams, but this time, dreams and a common path.
At this time, maintaining a life partner and tango partner is not an easy task. This holiday has been a factor in our growth as a couple and we overcome many obstacles year after year which makes us stronger. We remain committed to turning every crisis into an opportunity for mutual growth.
Q: What do you think was the reason for this meeting?
LS: We want tango to continue to grow in our region and to continue to open doors for new artists, dancers, companies, local orchestras and all those who directly or indirectly have their lives changed in some way through the Tango Festival. Tango and festivals are being established more and more across the country and the economic situation is not conducive for people to participate in all the offers, so you have to take some time to stop and rethink what environment you need, what tango needs, what is new. Keep supporting these great structures.
We will continue to uphold the proposition of a space where tango is accessible to everyone. Most importantly, continue to find a way to connect the state with the private sector to continue to deliver proposals that work across all sectors.
Q: What will the music festival in 2015 look like to you?
LS: Through this festival we once again feel the need to continue to achieve our goal of strengthening the academic formation of tango through training and positioning Neubén as a meeting point for the country’s Milongela communities.
Mauricio Monzon: These 15 years have seen us renew our commitment: to promote tango in our region and to be an advocate for artistic and cultural proposals that strengthen our cultural heritage, tourism and the agenda of our city.
Q: What are your expectations?
mm: We are very much looking forward to this moment. These 15 years help us look back and make us stop and see where we are now, where we have arrived and where we want to go. We have worked hard to get to where we are today, and many times we find ourselves alone. Today, 15 years later, we see our results. To make all this possible, our great pillars were and are: the tango community that accompanies us, our artists, the public, public and private institutions that accompanies us and our great working team, without whom this would not be possible. possible.

Q: What does it mean to be part of the International Tango Route?
LS: It is a non-profit network of festivals and public and private cultural organizations that promote, develop and disseminate tango. Being part of it means building a collaborative network of connections and actions among its members.
Especially this year we will have a visit from its highest authorities, President and Deputy Mayor of La Falda: Luciana Pacha, President of the Chilean Tango Association of Valparaíso, Vice President of the “International Tango Route” Sergio Cáceres, President and Image Director Gabriel Gutiérrez and Magda Braim, founders of “International Tango Road” and Leandro Ponte, director and founder of the San Nicolas International Tango Festival.
Q: There will be everything related to 2×4.
mm: Yes, it will be tango in Neuquén for four days: every evening there will be a milonga, an opening act, tango dance classes to train the dancers and, for the first time, singing lessons by our guest singer Leandro Aponte. His presence will be very important as he will provide specific knowledge of the tango genre to singers and teachers who want to perfect themselves.
LS: Usually after one festival is over we are already thinking about the next one. We are ready to continue improving from one year to the next. The key is the hours and months of work and most importantly the passion for what we do. Defining a space, a grid of artists, and especially finding financing is very difficult today. Efforts must continue to continue to connect the state with the private: financing is done with passion so that tango can continue to grow.
Q: What are your expectations for the now classic opening act?
mm: It will be a full-scale performance with the participation entirely of live musicians, including the Neuquen Provincial Orchestra conducted by Enrique Nicolás and voiced by Leandro Aponte , as well as teachers and dancers with extensive international experience Martina Waldman and Alex Moncada, Claudio González and Performances by Aurora Lubiz, who will be in charge of the Festival Ball’s classes and exhibitions. To give it an added bonus, on the night of the show, there will be a dance floor and after the show we will have dance parties all night long, led by great guest DJs Ale Menna and Fer Fachatosta from La Plata who will bring their Vinyl records.
