Sharjah: Afghanistan’s first ODI win against South Africa

Afghanistan defeated South Africa in the first match of the three-match ODI series in Sharjah on Wednesday.

This is Afghanistan’s first win against South Africa in ODI cricket.

In this match played in Sharjah, the South African batsmen failed to score a big score thanks to the good bowling of the Afghan bowlers.

After winning the toss, South Africa decided to bat first and in the 34th over, the entire team was bowled out for just 106 runs.

In reply, Afghanistan achieved the target of 107 runs in 26 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Gulbuddin Naib 34 and Azmatullah Umarzai 25 were the prominent batsmen for Afghanistan who played an unbeaten innings and led their team to victory.

Earlier, South Africa had a disappointing performance batting first and had lost seven wickets for a total score of just 36.

At this point, it looked like the visitors might not even cross the 50 mark, but youngster Vian Milder played a brilliant innings and scored 52 off 84 balls to take the team to 106.

For Afghanistan, Fazal Haq Farooqui dismissed four players, youngster Allah Muhammad Ghazanfar three and Rashid Khan dismissed two players.
