The major fire in the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral five years ago destroyed large parts of the roof structure and the pointed crossing tower. In order to rebuild the latter true to the original, scaffolding was erected, which made excavations necessary. Archaeologists came across two lead coffins, among other things. While one of the two dead was soon identified as a high-ranking churchman thanks to a brass plaque with his name (Antoine de la Porte), the identity of the second remained a mystery.
