As her incredible story has shocked the whole of France since the trial began earlier this month, Pelico, now 72, has become a symbol of strength and endurance in the fight against sexual violence.
Giselle Pelico decided to go public with the trial – expected to last until December – to raise public awareness of drug-induced sexual abuse and rape, her lawyers have said.

“We thank her a thousand times for her enormous courage,” militant feminist Fatima Benomar of the “Coudes a Coudes” association told BFM TV, adding that the gatherings will honor all rape victims.
Dominique Pelico, now ex-husband of Giselle, is accused of drugging her for a decade and inviting dozens of men to rape her. 50 men aged between 26 and 74 are on trial with him and if found guilty could face up to 20 years in prison. 18 of the defendants, including Peliko, are in custody. The remaining 32 are on parole and one is being tried in absentia.

Dominique Pelico: Video – document with his arrest while taking pictures under women’s skirts
THE Dominic Pelico is arrested in a supermarket for trying to take a picture up an unsuspecting woman’s skirt.
Soon after, he began to unravel along with his sick fantasies, with his wife, Giselle, as a victim. The police found the documents of the horror on his mobile phone and informed her about the nightmare she had been experiencing for almost 10 years.
The arrest was initially a matter of “upskirting” as it is called in the language of the internet the attempt of some people to secretly photograph under women’s skirts. The incident took place in 2020 with Dominique Pelico, now known in the French media as the “Monster of Avignon” (the city where everything takes place), being arrested, the police checking his mobile phone and then everything being revealed.

The trial of Frenchman Dominique Pelicot, accused of drugging his wife and inviting more than 80 strangers to their family home to rape her, has caused shock.
The courageous one Giselle Pelico she bravely waived her right to anonymity so the world could hear the depth of destitution to which her husband of 50 years sank in order to satisfy his perverted sexual desires.
The case, heard in the city of Avignon in Provence, France, has shocked anyone who has heard how former electrical engineer Dominique Pelicot abused his wife for a decade as reported by the dailymail.
Ms Peliko, 72, last week faced the 51 men – including her husband – accused of raping her, all of whom appeared at the Vaucluse Criminal Court each day as the trial continued.
In three hours of testimony last week, the grandmother-of-seven described the moment she learned from police officers how she had been drugged and rendered unconscious to be raped by strangers as she lay motionless in the marital bed while her husband watched, recording the abuse on camera for his personal pleasure.
He told the court: “I was subjected to the altar of wickedness. It’s a dead woman in a bed. This isn’t a bedroom, it’s an operating room. They treat me like a bag of garbage, like a rag doll. These are not sex scenes, these are rape scenes, it’s unbearable.”
Giving evidence the couple’s only daughter Caroline Peyronnet told the court last week how her world fell apart when her mother called to tell her of his crimes.
Her anguish was compounded when detectives discovered that Mr Peliko had also taken photographs of Caroline lying motionless on a bed in her mother’s underwear.
Madame Peyronnet, 45, described her father as “one of the worst sexual predators of the last 20 years”.
The trial heard that Pelicot’s perversion was only discovered after he was arrested for taking pictures up women’s skirts at a supermarket near the couple’s home in the pretty village of Mazan, in the shadow of Mont Ventoux in September 2020.
A police search of his computer uncovered 20,000 improvised films and photos of men he met online raping his wife dating back to 2011.
Detectives tracked down 50 of the approximately 84 men Pelicot had met on a now-defunct website and invited him to his home to commit the abuse.
