About the selected works

J.S.Bach’s Goldberg Variations in an arrangement for string trio by Sarudiansky, originally written for harpsichord, are one of Bach’s most complex and momentous works. On this occasion, it will be presented in a version for string trio, offering a new perspective on the intricate counterpoint and emotional depth that characterise the work. The variations, composed in 1741, are considered a masterpiece of the Baroque repertoire and showcase Bach’s genius in the development of thematic variations.

For its part, the Piano Trio No. 5 in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1known as The Phantomby Ludwig van Beethoven, is one of the composer’s most renowned works in the field of chamber music. Its nickname is due to the mysterious and sombre atmosphere of the second movement, which evokes a ghostly feeling. Composed in 1808, during his middle period, this trio exhibits Beethoven’s mastery of drama and musical tension, characteristics that distinguished him in the transition to Romanticism.
