Apple Podcasts automatically transcribes audio, but it can be a hassle if you want to use it for secondary purposes such as blogging. Otonal has released a tool called Summary FM that can transcribe audio, so I created a bookmarklet to make it easier to use. Apple Podcasts → Bookmarklet → Summary FM → Transcription complete! → Paste it into a blog such as note, and you can do this quickly.

javascript:(function(){const audioElement=document.querySelector('audio');if(audioElement){const audioSrc=audioElement.getAttribute('src');navigator.clipboard.writeText(audioSrc).then(function(){alert('コピーした!');window.open(' '_blank');},function(err){console.error('クリップボードへのコピーに失敗しました: ',err);});}else{alert('ページにAUDIOタグが見つかりませんでした。');}})();
Copy the code above and replace it with any link you have bookmarked.
Steps for Transcription
1. Go to the episode page on Apple Podcasts
>>Audio media news roundup, first week of August 2022 – Creator Economy News – Apple Podcast
For example, as shown above, go to the episode page of a particular podcast in Apple Podcasts. Not the show page, but the specific episode page you want to transcribe.
Once you play it.
This is important because when you play the audio, an MP3 or m4a file will be loaded into the HTML and played. This will allow the bookmarklet to detect it.
When you launch the bookmarklet, it will display “Copied!”, meaning the URL of the audio file has been copied.
2. Transcribe with Summary FM
>>Audio Transcription (Summary fm) – Podcast Ranking
Summary FM is an AI-based transcription service that was previously operated by Stand FM. It is now run by Otonal, an audio advertising agency.
However, the URL has been changed and it is now available as a tool within the Otonal service. Stand FM has not deleted the link, so be careful as the previous version will still come up in searches.
You will need to register for free with Otonal’s podcast rankings (if you use a bookmarklet it will automatically open in a new tab. *Login required).
All you have to do is paste the URL of the audio file, click the transcribe button, and wait a few minutes, and your Apple Podcasts episode will be beautifully transcribed.
3. AI-based text formatting
All you have to do is use AI such as ChatGPT or Claude to format the text.
It seems that Claude has a high reputation, but I prefer the versatility of ChatGPT. Publish the formatted text on a blog or note to help increase awareness.
