“We will pay our respects to all soldiers, and we will financially support ten families,” Aurelija Tamošaitienė, the chairperson of the Women’s Organization of Officers’ Families of the Grand Duchess Birutė of Lithuania (Birutėčiai), told BNS.

In September 2015, during the Lithuanian army marathon, a young Lithuanian officer died. This loss encouraged Birutietes to organize a large commemorative event “In Memoriam” every autumn to honor all Lithuanian soldiers who died in various circumstances during the year and to support their families.
