PCB Increases Financial Aid for Local Cricketers, Doubling Their Support Efforts

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to double the amount paid to domestic cricketers and the top performers will be given separate contracts.

PCB Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan while detailing the board’s 5-year plan said that holding the World T20 this year seems difficult and it will be a big financial loss for the game and for us.

“As you know members get good money after International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments but with World T20 uncertainty we are working on contingency plan, we are prepared for worst case scenario,” he said. I think we are planning ahead and reducing our expenses and budget, we will not compromise on domestic and women’s cricket.

He said that in the next domestic season we will double the amounts for the players and also introduce a new category to encourage the players who perform well in domestic cricket.

As far as domestic cricket is concerned, Wasim Khan said that according to the changes made last year, six teams will compete in domestic cricket.

He said that we are trying to build a long-term sustainable system so that we can perform well at the international level in the future. It is our duty to make the right decisions for improvement.

The PCB Chief Executive said that recently we have restructured the High Performance Centers to include professionals like Saqlain Mushtaq and Nadeem Khan, besides Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed for England tour. We are a part of Pakistan’s team management, so we are trying to provide facilities to our players and youth.

“I want to say that the departments can continue cricket activities but we cannot officially recognize them because we have a domestic structure based on the region and we are rebuilding on that model,” he said. It will take a few years for domestic cricket to improve, but we are clearly moving in the right direction, which will surely bring results.

The chief executive said that Misbah has served Pakistan cricket with integrity and I think we should give him a proper opportunity to perform at his best.

He said that when we recruited Misbah as head coach and chief selector, people said a lot but we should not forget that this is the same person who picked up the fallen Pakistan team after the 2010 spot-fixing scandal and I think we should support Misbah and his support staff because everyone needs time to perform well, fans should also be patient, I know that the upcoming England tour Misbah and his team It will be difficult for England as England are already practicing well and will soon play the series against West Indies.

Waseem Khan said that on the other hand, our team’s activities are limited due to the rapidly spreading corona virus and they are not able to practice, that is why we are sending them to England soon so that they get proper time for practice. .

He said that we are also trying to build good relations with all the cricket boards and in the next two years I hope that teams like Australia and England will also visit Pakistan.
