CANCÚN, Q. ROO.- Since the beginning of the distribution of tennis shoes on September 5, as part of the school support program, to date the City Council has delivered nearly 18 thousand pairs to basic education students, impacting around 40 schools per day when the distribution days are held.
This was announced by Berenice Sosa Osorio, Secretary of Social and Economic Development, who indicated that there has been a good response to this program, both from parents and students, as well as from teachers, who have especially supported the logistics, since they have provided data on how many students there are, how many are missing and the sizes they need.
According to the official, the delivery of tennis shoes has progressed so far at the pace that was planned, so they hope to stay within the estimated dates, from September 9 to 27, through the nine routes that were planned for distribution logistics.
She indicated that, in case a child does not receive the correct size, they also have a stock to make the exchange at that moment and, in the event that the correct size is not in stock, exchanges can be made at the offices of the Secretariat from October 7 to 11.
During these same dates, parents and children who have not received tennis shoes may also attend, in cases where they were not present on the day of delivery, either due to illness, because they registered after the first lists for delivery were made, or because they simply did not come to class.
He recalled that 122,525 pairs of tennis shoes were needed for this delivery, for which an investment of approximately 32 million pesos was made, intended for students in preschool, primary, secondary and special education levels, which is done as a complement to the delivery of backpacks and supplies made by the state government.
