MINISTER of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that the progress of the construction of the Nusantara Airport in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan Province, is certain to be completed in the near future.
“Development runway has reached 1,975 meters. This is still in line with our target. In the near future it will be completed up to 2,200 meters,” said the Minister of Transportation, through an official statement received, Monday (9/9)
He said at the end of August 2024, runway has a length of 1,025 meters. According to Budi, construction continues despite the weather conditions sometimes drizzling and rainy.
Besides runwayhe said that a number of developments in the airport area have been seen. One of them is the VVIP terminal whose construction progress has reached 90.16%. Meanwhile, for the VIP terminal, he added, it has been completed 77.06%.
Budi mentioned supporting facilities such as towers Air Traffic Controller (ATC) has been completed 53.71%, the construction of the administration and operational building is 61.03%, and the Aviation Accident Rescue and Fire Fighting Building (PKP-PK) is 68.71% complete.

“So far, the construction is going well. The obstacle is still the unpredictable weather conditions and it is slowing down the work a bit. But, everything is still going well. on track” said the Minister of Transportation.
As for the airport access support road, he continued, it has been built above 50%. The main access road is said to be 98.53% ready, and the western perimeter road is 66.96% built. While the eastern perimeter road has been completed 50.44%.
“All of these roads will support access to and from the airport,” said the Minister of Transportation.
Overall, according to Budi, the airport construction progress has reached 74.79% with a construction time of 273 days. The Minister of Transportation is optimistic that the airport will be completed in its entirety according to the target time, namely on December 31, 2024. (H-3)
